The atmosphere of the game was enough to give you goose bumps. The pep band blasting away on their instruments and the crowd alive with a lot of energy.
Players from both teams started off a little bit cold, because it was the first game of the season.
Throughout the first half, the Bulldogs played great defense. But on the offensive end of the court, Paynesville seemed to be in too much of a rush and didn’t show much patience.
Paynesville senior Ryan Hemingson started out in foul trouble, which limited his time on the court.
Also limited to playing time, because of a badly sprained ankle, was senior Eric Glenz, pictured above making a basket. Because of this injury senior Andy Meagher started in his place.
J.T. Koehn was still a little bit sore because of a previous back injury which has been nagging him for over a year now.
But none the less, Paynesville knew what needed to be done. Throughout the game, the Bulldogs kept getting tougher and tougher on defense, which ultimately won the game for them.
Josh Jones, Koehn, and Hemingson all scored in double figures. Jones also snared 13 rebounds for his second double-double of his high school career.
Captains for this season are all of the seniors: Jones, Meagher, Hemingson, Brent Heinen, Matt Carstens, and Glenz.
