Offensive woes doom Stars in losses to Alexandria, Fergus Falls | ||||||||||||||||||||
The River Lakes Stars girls' hockey team dropped two games last week, managing only one goal in two games. The Stars lost to Alexandria 4-1 on Thursday and to Fergus Falls 3-0 on Tuesday. Against Alex, the Cardinals scored three first-period goals. They scored their first goal midway through the first period and never trailed after that. They added a goal with three minutes to play in the first period and with 30 seconds to play in the period. Trailing 3-0, the Stars cut into that deficit with the only goal in the second period. Senior forward Amber Schulzetenberge scored a short-handed goal midway through the period to make the score 3-1. Alexandria, though, scored in the first minute of the third period and neither team could score in the final 16 minutes of play. The Stars (6-7-2) do not play any games this week. They resume their schedule in January. Next week, they will play at Brainerd on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
