Bulldogs thump Peace Academy, 89-34 | ||||||||||||
The Bulldogs boys' basketball team cruised to an easy victory on Friday night over Peace Academy of St.Paul, 89-34. The Dogs came ready to play and put the game out of reach early by building a 20-point lead in the first quarter. The Dogs outscored the visitors 26-7 in the first quarter and 28-6 in the second quarter, leading by 40 points at halftime. The Dogs played outstanding team defense and held Peace Academy to just 13 first-half points. All but one of the Bulldog players scored, 13 in all, led by junior Adam Kampsen with 20 points. Seniors Milan Virant (14 points), Tommy Flannigan (12 points), and Doug Mages (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Dogs. The Bulldogs also got over 40 points in bench scoring. "It's nice to get a win like that. Especially right before the holiday break. The junior varsity works their tails off in practice and make the varsity a lot better. They deserved their moment to shine and tonight they got it," said head coach Phil Carlson. With the win, the Dogs improved to 3-1 for the season. The Dogs' next game is on Friday night at Kimball as they play Parkers Prairie in the first round of a holiday tournament. Game time is 6:15 p.m. The Bulldogs will play in the second round on Saturday, either at 6:15 p.m. again if they lose on Friday or around 8 p.m. if they win.
