New London-Spicer scored 112.5 to beat Paynesville, which scored 111.125, a margin of 1.375.

Sophomore Kayla Nelson scored 6.9 on the balance beam last week against NL-S and placed fourth for the Bulldogs.

The Wildcats beat the Bulldogs on the uneven bars by nearly two points and also outscored the Dogs by three-tenths of a point on the floor exercise. "We struggled on the bars and that was the difference in the meet," said coach Deb Nehowig.

The Bulldogs won the balance beam by nearly a point, and the Dogs and Cats tied on the vault.

On the beam, three Paynesville gymnasts placed: ninth grader Kacy Nehowig was second, seventh grader Anna Kotten was third, and sophomore Kayla Nelson was fourth. Nehowig won the vault, as well as the bars, and Kotten was third on the vault.

Nehowig was second in the all-around competition, placing first on the bars and vault and second on the beam and floor. Kotten was third in the all around, placing on all four apparatus: third on the vault and beam, fourth on the floor and bars.

Junior Ashley Spanier also placed for the Bulldogs, taking fifth on the floor exercise. This was her second highest score ever on the floor.

The Bulldogs' next meet will not be until January. "The last three meets we've been stuck at 111," said coach Deb Nehowig. "Hopefully, we can work hard on new skills during Christmas vacation and get closer to 115 in January."
