Minnesota Basketball News is a seven-issue-per-year newspaper published by Jeff McCarron of Paynesville. Each year, it previews all Minnesota high school teams, ranks the top 20 teams in each class for boys and girls, ranks the top 25 teams in all classes, names the best 15 players in the state (on its first, second, and third teams), and selects the top 100 high school players for both boys and girls.

Nietfeld, a 6' 3" senior forward, is in his fourth year as a varsity starter for Paynesville. He has scored 1,079 career points. Last year, he scored 20.5 points per game, grabbed 13.5 rebounds per game (setting a new school record with 324 rebounds), snared 3.9 steals per game (also setting a new school record with 93 steals), and dished 3.3 assists per game.
