Gymnasts score well, but lose two matches | ||||||||
The Paynesville gymnastics team had two meets last week, losing at Annandale on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and to Benson at home on Thursday. The Bulldogs were defeated by Annandale 128.95-113.6. Paynesville had two girls who placed on the uneven bars. Rachel Koehn placed fourth, and Kacy Nehowig placed third. Tessa Miller tied for fifth place on the vault while Amy Mueller (pictured at left) placed fourth with an 8.0. On the floor exercise, Mueller placed fifth and Koehn had a great routine that earned her third place. Mueller was the only Bulldog to place on the floor exercise. She tied for fifth place. In the all-around competition, Miller placed fifth, Mueller placed fourth, and Nehowig placed third. This week, the Bulldogs host New London-Spicer at the Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds on Thursday. The Bulldogs travel to Kimball for a meet on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Benson 126.9, Paynesville 115.6
On the vault, Paynesville scored well with 32.45 points. Mueller placed second but Benson shut the rest of the team out. On the uneven bars, Mandy Mayer placed fifth. Swinging into second place was Nehowig. Mueller was once again the only gymnast to place on the balance beam. She earned fourth place. Nehowig and Mueller tied for fifth place on the floor exercise. Paynesville's score on floor was 29.5. Mueller and Nehowig also placed in the all-around competition. Mueller was fifth, and Nehowig was fourth.
