Bulldogs win opener against Kimball | ||||||||||||
In their first test of the season, the Dogs passed with flying colors in a 59-36 thrashing of the Kimball Cubs. The Bulldogs' defense was the difference all night as they continued to shut down the Cubs' offense. The Bulldogs held the Cubs to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters. They outscored the Cubs in all four quarters. They took a 14-6 lead in the first quarter and led 30-20 at halftime. Senior Josh Teicher had 13 points and five rebounds in the Bulldogs' 59-36 victory against Kimball on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The Bulldogs had three players in double figures as they won their season opener. Senior Kevin Mehr added 10 points and five assists. Led by senior guard Milan Virant, who scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, the Dogs pulled away in the second half and held on to get new head coach Phil Carlson his first win as a Bulldog. The Bulldogs outscored Kimball 29-16 in the second half. "I couldn't believe how good your defense was all night. You guys shut them down and never let up," said one Bulldog fan. The Dogs dominated the game in every aspect. They outrebounded the Cubs 41-17. The biggest difference in the game was the play of the Bulldogs' backcourt. Senior point guard Josh Teicher had 13 points and five rebounds, and senior Kevin Mehr added 10 points, six boards, and five assists. The Dogs played Annandale at home on Tuesday. They will play at St. Cloud Cathedral on Friday. The boys' basketball program is looking for adult coaches to help with the sixth grade boys' basketball team.
