Last-second overtime goal drops Stars | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato scored with 15 seconds left in overtime to beat the River Lakes Stars boys' hockey team on Friday in Litch. Senior Tom Raisanen scored with 15 seconds left in overtime to lift Litchfield/DC to a 2-1 victory. After a scoreless first period, Raisanen had scored with five minutes left in the second period to give Litch/DC a 1-0 lead. Senior Mike Mueller scored a power-play goal two minutes later to tie the score 1-1. Neither team scored in the third period and they skated for nearly five minutes in overtime without scoring before Raisanen scored with 15 seconds to play. Litch/DC outshot the Stars 34-18. Junior Eric Prowker made 32 saves for the Stars (1-3). This week, the Stars will play at Willmar on Thursday, will host Bagley on Saturday afternoon at the Koronis Civic Arena in Paynesville, and will play Sartell in Richmond on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

The Flyers scored three times in the last five minutes of the first period, breaking a scoreless tie through the first 12 minutes of the game. The Stars got a goal from senior Andy Schramel 90 seconds into the second period and a power-play goal from sophomore Alex Naujokas with eight seconds left in the period to cut the lead to 3-2. But Little Falls scored again two minutes into the third period to get the Central Lakes Conference win. Senior Nick Dahlen scored for the Stars with less than two minutes to play to cut the lead to 4-3, but Little Falls scored two goals in the last 90 seconds to make the final 6-3.
