Mages earns honorable mention recognition

Jim Mages, a junior defensive end from Paynesville, had a spectacular season in the pits for the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. Mages and four teammates were chosen as honorable mention selections to the All Conference team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Four other Crookston players were chosen to the All Conference first and second teams.

Mages was in on 78 tackles this year, 38 solo tackles and 48 assisted tackles. Seventeen of those were for a loss, totaling 61 yards. He ended the season with 10 quarterback sacks.

The Golden Eagles finished 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC. It was the first time Mages received all-conference recognition.
