Stars shut out Becker/ Big Lake for first win | ||||||||||
The River Lakes Stars boys' hockey team scored four power-play goals and outshot Becker/Big Lake 56-15 on Saturday, winning their first game of the season 7-0. Sophomore forward Alex Naujokas, of Paynesville, scored a hat trick for the Stars, including two of their four power-play goals. He got the Stars on the scoreboard with a power-play goal midway through the first period, added an even-strength goal with three minutes to play in the first period, and completed his hat trick with a power-play goal 90 seconds into the second period. Senior forward Andy Schramel also scored a power-play goal in the first period and scored the Stars' last goal, at even strength, in the third period. Sophomore forward Taylor Endres scored the other power-play goal for the Stars in the third period, and sophomore Luke Campbell scored the other goal for the Stars in the last minute of the second period. Junior center Jamie Paul, of Paynesville, recorded three assists, including assists on both of Naujokas' power-play tallies. He, along with Naujokas and Schramel, scored three points in the victory. Junior Eric Prowker recorded the shutout for the Stars, stopping all 15 shots he faced in net. With the win, the Stars evened their season record at 1-1. This week, the Stars hosted Little Falls in Richmond on Tuesday. The Stars will play next at Litchfield on Friday.
