Hamline University kicker/punter Steve Koehn, a 1996 graduate of Paynesville Area High School, was named special teams player of the week for the Minnesota Inter-collegiate Athletic Conference recently. Koehn was honored for his performance against Macalester College on Oct. 30.
In that game, Koehn averaged 48 yards on four punts and was perfect in his place kicking duties. He kicked three field goals in three chances and four extra points in four tries. He scored 13 points total.
Earlier in the season, Koehn kicked a 46-yard field goal to set a new Hamline record for longest field goal, breaking his own record set two years ago.
