The girls cross country team took third place in the Sub-Section on Oct. 20.
The meet, which took place in New London, determined Section quali-fication. The top four teams and top 10 individuals advance to Sections on Oct. 29 at Perham.

The Bulldogs earned this right, along with the teams from New-London-Spicer, Minnewaska, and Morris.

Jen Hessís third place finish also qualified her individually. She ran an excellent race with a time of 15:54 on the moderately hilly course.

The remainder of the team ran as a pack for the majority of the race, and managed to finish near the top. Danielle Lieser placed 16th in 17:28, Erin Aagesen placed 17th in 17:29, and Camille Flanders finished 18th in 17:37.

Next for Paynesville was Carin Frenchick in 23rd, Tiff Rausch in 26th, and Mesa Frenchick in 33rd. These girls finished with times of 17:57, 18:12, and 18:51, repectively.

ìI loved the pep band,î said Mesa Frenchick, of the three member trumpet trio that came to support the team. ìThey inspired me to run my best.î
