Mehr, boys finish fifth at BBE Invite |
Led by senior Matt Mehr's top five finish, the Bulldogs boys' cross country team placed fifth at a 17-team meet at the Prairie View Golf Course in Brooten on Thursday. Mehr earned a medal at the BBE Invite by placing fifth individually. Sauk Centre (63) placed first among the boys' teams, followed by NL-S (80), Montevideo (84), Redwood Valley (117), and Paynesville (143). Sophomore Dugan Flanders was the second runner for the Dogs, finishing 19th overall. Senior Chris Utsch (28th), sophomore Peder Thompson (32nd), and ninth grader Chris Block (59th) completed the Dogs' team score. Senior Chris Utsch sprints to the finish at the BBE invite on Thursday at the Prairie View Golf Course in Brooten. He finished 28th in 19:39. Eighth grader Jamison Wall recorded a top ten finish in the junior varsity race, leading a strong contingent of Paynesville runners. He finished eighth overall. According to coach Darrel Carstens, both teams improved from their first meet, and the runners are still developing and looking for more individual improvement. This week, the Dogs will run at the NL-S meet on Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Little Crow Golf Club between New London and Spicer.
