Cheerleaders selected to elite team |
Six Paynesville football cheerleaders - senior Lacey Bengtson, juniors Jess Engler, Amanda Halvorson, Jessica Kotten, and Megan Mackedanz, and sophomore Emily Mergen - were chosen to the All American team by Elite Cheerleading, Inc. The company trains 15,000 cheerleaders in summer camps throughout the United States, and the All American team represents the top five percent in the nation. Six members of the Bulldogs' football cheerleading squad were named to the All American team by Elite Cheerleading, Inc. They are (front): junior Megan Mackedanz, junior Jessica Kotten, and sophomore Emily Mergen; (back) junior Amanda Halvorson, senior Lacey Bengtson, and junior Jess Engler. Six Paynesville football cheerleaders tried out for the All American team in August, and all six were chosen for the honor. After a year's absence, football cheerleading is back on the sidelines this fall as a self-supporting activity, meaning the team needs to raise the funds to cover its costs. Other members of the football cheerleading squad this fall for Paynesville are ninth grader Katrina Daby and ninth grader Kassi Sheridan. They are coached by Robyn Spaeth.
