Boys take fifth at first meet |
The Paynesville boys' cross country team placed fifth in a ten-team meet at Spooner, Wis., on Thursday in the team's first meet. Running against nine Wisconsin teams, the Dogs placed in the middle of the pack with 125 points. Hayward, Wis., won the meet with a score of 28, followed by Frederick, Wis., at 49. The Dogs trailed Colfax (100) and Webster (106) for third and fourth but easily beat Flambeau (177) for fifth. Senior Dugan Flanders led the Dogs with an 11th-place finish. Eighth grader Tanner Wendroth also finished in the top 20, running 19th. He was followed by senior Elliott Wall in 22nd. Sophomores Ezra Thompson (35th) and Josh Sturtz (38th) completed the Dogs' team score. This week, the Dogs will run in a meet at Brooten on Thursday.
