Golf teams compete at state meet in Junior MGA

Two golf teams from Koronis Hills Golf Club participated in the state junior meet sponsored by the Minnesota Golf Association last week at Izaty's Resort near Onamia.

Unfortunately, both teams from Koronis Hills finished last.

Paynesville's team - which won the district and region titles - had only two players: Heather Fuchs and Amber Jensen. Their total at state was 419.

Fuchs shot rounds of 91 and 88 and finished tied for 18th overall out of 60 female golfers.

Winning the boys' division was the Rochester Golf and Country Club with a total of 478. The boys played 18 holes each day on the Black Brooke Golf Course (6,623 yards, par 72). Their team score is the lowest three scores out of four players.

Paynesville's boys - Ross Barten, Justin Bork, Zach Fuchs, and Mitchell Mackedanz - finished with a total of 562. They were second in districts and at regions.

Mackedanz shot rounds of 90 and 85 to tie for 48th overall out of 75 golfers, and Fuchs had rounds of 91 and 93 to finish 60th overall. Bork had rounds of 95 and 108.
