Two teens to attend drag race |
Casey and Taylor Kussatz of Paynesville were selected to be guests during the Lucas Oil National Hot Rod Association Nationals on Friday at the Brainerd International Raceway. The Kussatz brothers will be among 35 young drivers from Minnesota who will be special guests of Fast Cop, Inc. They were selected for the day-long program because of their interest in drag racing and their participation in Wednesday Night Street Drags at Brainerd International Raceway. In addition to receiving a free ticket for Friday's opening qualifying session, the group of teens will meet pro stock driver Jason Line and hear from Fast Cop's Shaun White and Darin White, who will discuss the dangers of street racing and impaired driving. Fast Cop is a Brainerd-based non-profit group that travels statewide to educate teens on dangerous driving habits. With a goal of reducing injuries on streets and highways, Fast Cop promotes its message by sponsoring Wednesday Night Street Drags at Brainerd International Raceway, where drivers of all ages can safely drag race on the world-class drag strip. "These kids are in for a real treat because they'll get to go behind the scenes and see what's really involved with professional drag racing," said Fast Cop president Larry White. "We believe that exposing them to professional drivers who take drag racing and safety very seriously will have a significant impact on the decisions they make on the road. We hope they'll take this message back to their friends and spread the word about safe driving within their circle of friends."
