Hess wins Spicer road race

Jen Hess of Lake Henry won the women's division of the 12-mile Green Lake Race on Sunday. Hess, 19, finished in 1:20:49, winning by over three minutes. A total of 53 women competed in the race. Hess also won the 10-19 age group.

On the men's side, Riley Flanders, 18, of Paynesville was 13th overall and took first in the 10-19 age group. His time was 1:23:19.

Brian Heinen, 25, of New London, was 34th in 1:32:25; Chad Wyffels, 16, of Paynesville was 43rd in 1:37:07; and Aaron Flint, 19, of Richmond was 60th in 1:43:55.

A total of 114 men ran in the 12-mile road race.
