St. Martin wins ninth straight in league

St. Martin held Roscoe to two hits on Sunday and improved to 9-1 in the Stearns County League South.

Brothers Sam and Luke Rothstein combined on a two-hitter, holding Roscoe to only one run in a 6-1 win on Sunday in Roscoe.

The Martins had built a 6-0 lead by the time the Rangers scored their only run in the game in the sixth inning. St. Martin scored a run in the third, four in the fifth, and another in the sixth for their ninth straight league win. The Martins lost their league opener to Greenwald but have won all nine league games since then.

Nate Schlangen homered and doubled for St. Martin.

Roscoe fell to 3-7 in league and 5-10 overall with the loss. Roscoe did beat St. Nick 13-9 in an exhibition game on Tuesday, June 17.

This week, Roscoe hosts Pearl Lake on Wednesday, June 25, at 6:15 p.m. On Sunday, Roscoe will play at Elrosa at 1:30 p.m.

St. Martin will play Bird Island at Eden Valley on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will host Farming on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Farming 7, Lake Henry 6
Farming rallied to beat Lake Henry 7-6 on Sunday in Farming. The Lakers led 5-0 and 6-3 before the Flames scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh and won 7-6.

Chris Theis hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for Farming and a three-run double in the seventh.

Doug Fuchs had a bases-loaded triple for Lake Henry in the third inning, when the Lakers scored four runs and took a 4-0 lead. Ryan Wuertz also had two RBIs for Lake Henry.

The Lakers also lost 7-6 to Melrose in an exhibition game in Paynesville on Wednesday, June 18. The Lakers scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning on four singles and three walks, but Melrose scored one run to win in the bottom of the ninth.

The Lakers are now 6-4 in league and 9-8 overall.

This week, the Lakers will play Kimball on Thursday in Paynesville at 8 p.m. and will host Richmond on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Norway Lake 9, Paynesville 3
Jason Roepke pitched a complete game as Norway Lake defeated the Paynesville Pirates 9-3 in a Corn Belt League game on Friday night in Paynesville.

Norway Lake never trailed and took a 5-0 lead after scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning.

The Pirates are now 3-6 in league and 4-6 overall.

This week, the Pirates will play at Bird Island on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Pirates will play at New London at 1:30 p.m.
