Lieser completes college career |
Jon Lieser, a senior second baseman/ catcher, was a member of the 2004-05 Dakota State University baseball team that captured the NAIA Region III Championship and played in the Plains Super-Regional Tournament. The Trojans set a school record with 34 victories. The team's previous record was 33 wins in 2003, when they were also the Region III champions. Dakota State also finished as the DAC-10 regular season runners-up and finished the year ranked #21 in the NAIA national ratings. Lieser played in 50 games for the Trojans this spring. He hit .290 (45 for 155) with seven doubles, one triple, and one homerun. He collected 27 RBIs, scored 34 runs, and stole 17 bases in 19 attempts. On the field, Lieser had a 0.941 fielding percentage. Lieser was awarded second team honors in the DAC-10. "Jon is an outstanding young man and an important part of our Trojan baseball family. We are glad to have him as part of our program, and we expect big things from Jon in the future," said Dakota State head coach Pat Dolan. Lieser is a 2001 graduate of Paynesville Area High School and the son of Dennis and Rosie Lieser of Paynesville. Last year, Lieser hit .296 for Dakota State. Prior to that, he also played two years at Ridgewater College in Willmar, including in a NJCAA World Series.
