Lake Henry 17 Four home runs powered the Lake Henry Lakers past the St. Martin Martins on Sunday 17-4. Jeff Schmitz hit a three-run homer in the first for the Lakers, Mike Stalboerger hit a three-run blast in the second, Roger Wuertz hit a three-run shot in the fourth, and Ryan Wuertz added a two-run homer in the sixth. The Lakers scored 17 runs -Ê11 on homers - over the first six innings, roughing up three Martin pitchers. Jim Arceneau finally quieted the Laker bats by pitching two shutout innings of relief. The Martins also committed seven errors in the game. Roger Wuertz pitched seven innings to earn the victory for Lake Henry. He allowed only two runs on five hits, as the Lakers improved to 8-2 in league. Sam Rothstein hit a solo homer in the fourth for the Martins' first run. The Rangers loaded the bases in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, but scored only four runs. The Rangers dropped to 3-6 in league and 5-8 overall.

Brent Heinen's two-run double was the big blow in the ninth. He ended the game with three RBIs and also earned the pitching victory in relief. The Rangers got their third league victory with the win.

The Pirates lost to Melrose 7-0 on Wednesday, June 13, and 13-0 on Saturday. The Sauk Centre Titans shut out the Pirates 2-0 on Sunday. Hitting highlights were sparse for the Pirates, who managed 18 hits in all three games. Dan Starken pitched well on Sunday for Paynesville, holding the Titans to six hits and two runs. The three losses evened the Pirates' league record at 4-4 and dropped their season record to 9-4. Sunday, June 17
