On Saturday
morning a record number of 83 people participated in the seventh
annual Town and Country Days Fun Run.
The 10K race route wrapped around Lake Koronis, beginning at
the Lake Koronis Regional Park and finishing at Veteran's Memorial
Park. Participants could run 5K or 10K or walk two miles.
Former Paynesville long-distance running standouts Jen Hess and
Clayton Lang set the pace in the races. Hess won the women's
5K in 18:40, and Lang won the 10K with a time of 36:40.
In the men's 10K, four of the top five finishers were from Paynesville:
Lang, third-place finisher Dan Pearson (39:27), fourth-place
winner Brian Heinen (39:49), and fifth-place finisher Riley Flanders
(40:23).
Mike Kuffel of Waite Park won the men's 5K race in a new record
time of 18:19. Sheila Gomar of Spicer won the women's 10K in

could subtract one minute from their time for each time they
bench pressed their body weight (100 percent for men and 60 percent
for women).
