Regal blanks Paynesville, 11-0

The Regal Eagles scored ten runs in their first two times at bat and blanked the Paynesville Pirates 11-0 in a Cornbelt League game on Friday night in Paynesville.

Jeremy Fuchs pitched a four-hitter over seven innings and had four hits himself - as did teammate Josh Krupke - as Regal avenged a 6-0 loss to the Pirates in May.

The Pirates also lost to Starbuck 9-0 last week.

This week, Regal will play at Eden Valley on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and will host Atwater on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Paynesville will host Starbuck on Friday at 8 p.m. and will play at New London on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Lakers 10, Richmond 4
Lake Henry scored three runs in the first, second, and ninth innings to beat Richmond 10-4 on Sunday in Richmond. The Lakers improved to 7-1 in the Stearns County League South and 13-2 overall with the win.

In the first inning, Ryan Wuertz and Jeff Olmscheid had RBI singles as the Lakers took a 3-0 lead. They added three more runs in the second as Josh Kampsen homered, Jeff Schmitz drew a bases-loaded walk, and another run scored on an error.

After Richmond closed to 6-4, Jon Lieser hit an RBI single for the Lakers in the sixth inning to make it 7-4. In the ninth, Pat Mohs hit a two-run double and then scored on a sacrifice fly to make the final 10-4.

The Lakers also beat Atwater on Friday 3-0 in Lake Henry in an exhibition game. Adam Miller doubled and had two RBIs for the Lakers, and Adam Kampsen and Jesse Lieser combined to throw a five-hit shutout.

This week, the Lakers will host Farming on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Ryan Nett pitched a four-hit shutout as St. Martin edged Elrosa in a pitcher's duel on Sunday. With the home victory, the Martins kept pace with Lake Henry in the Stearns County League South, improving to 7-1 in league and 12-1 overall.

With Nett pitching a shutout, the Martins scored off Elrosa ace Aaron Vogt in the fourth inning as Luke Rothstein hit an RBI triple to score Jake Thelen. In the sixth, Sam Rothstein added an RBI single, scoring Nathan Schlangen.

Nett allowed only four hits and two walks while striking out eight.

This week, the Martins will play at St. Nicholas on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will play at Roscoe on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Dale Schroeder and Ted Nett combined to shut out Roscoe on Sunday in Farming, as the Flames defeated the Rangers 4-0.

Cory Mergen had a two-run double for Farming in the second inning, as they took a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Schroeder and Nett allowed seven hits but did not walk a batter in the combined shutout.

This week, the Rangers (2-6 in league, 4-8 overall) will host St. Martin on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

New Munich 3, Spring Hill 1
New Munich tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh and rallied to beat Spring Hill 3-1 with two runs in the top of the ninth.

Spring Hill scored its lone run in the third inning on an error, a single by Shawn Schoenberg, and a sacrifice fly. But the Chargers' only other hit was a single by Chad Spanier in the second inning, as Jim Thull pitched two-hit baseball for New Munich.

The Silverstreaks tied the game in the top of the seventh as Mike Wiechmann doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly.

In the ninth, with the game tied 1-1, Wiechmann walked and Joe Stangler doubled to put runners on second and third. Spring Hill tagged out Wiechmann on a pitch out during a suicide squeeze for the second out in the inning, but Karl Funk and Pat Nathe hit two-out RBI singles for New Munich to plate the winning runs.

This week, Spring Hill (3-6 in league, 5-6 overall) will play at Elrosa on Saturday night at 8 p.m.

All Star Game
The Stearns County League will hold its annual All Star Game on Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in Elrosa with players from the North Division facing the South Division.

Representing Lake Henry on the South team are: Doug Fuchs (SS), Adam Kampsen (3B), Josh Kampsen (OF), Pat Mohs (P), Mike Stalboerger (DH), and Ryan Wuertz (OF). Representing Roscoe on the South team are: Brent Heinen (P) and Mike Heinen (C). Representing St. Martin on the South team are: Kenny Arceneau (OF), Josh Harrison (1B), Ryan Nett (P), Luke Rothstein (SS), Sam Rothstein (OF), and Nathan Schlangen (2B).

Representing Spring Hill on the North team are: Eric Schoenberg (3B), Shawn Schoenberg (OF), Nathan Terres (C), and Aron Welle (P).
