The Paynesville Pirates evened their Corn Belt League record with a 4-3 victory over Atwater on Sunday in Paynesville. The Pirates are now 3-3 in league and 4-3 overall. The Pirates trailed 3-1 before rallying for a run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth. Chris Stanley drove home the tying and winning runs in the eighth inning with a single. Seth Miller pitched eight innings for the victory, and Tyler Wuertz pitched one inning for the save. This week, the Pirates will host a home-and-away series with Starbuck. The two teams will play in Paynesville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and will play again on Friday night in Starbuck at 7:30 p.m.

Regal 4, Bird Island 3 Pat Rohe hit a two-run homer for Regal in the seventh inning to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead. After Bird Island scored a run in the top of the ninth, Regal won by scoring a run with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Dennis Olmscheid pitched seven innings for Regal, allowing only two runs. A.J. Hadley earned the pitching victory in relief. This week, Regal will play at New London on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Henry 4, Elrosa 1 Pat Mohs hit a solo homer, and Jeff Schmitz hit an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. Adam Miller hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to provide the final margin of victory. Ryan Wuertz pitched eight innings for the victory, allowing only one run on three hits. He walked eight but struck out ten. Doug Fuchs pitched a perfect ninth for a save. The Lakers also beat Sauk Centre in an exhibition game on Wednesday, June 4. Jesse Lieser pitched five innings of no-hit ball, and Mohs had a bases-clearing double and Schmitz hit a two-run homer for the Lakers. This week, the Lakers play at Eden Valley on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. They will play at Roscoe on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

St. Martin 2, New Munich 1 With the score tied 1-1, Luke Rothstein led off the bottom of the ninth with a double to left. He advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jesse Thelen and scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Carl Lieser, ending the game. Ken Arceneau pitched a complete game for St. Martin, allowing only five hits, one run, and no walks while striking out seven. New Munich's Jim Thull was nearly as good, allowing only six hits, walking none, and allowing only two runs, one earned. This week, the Martins will play at St. Nicholas on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., at Luxemburg on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and will host Meire Grove on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Roscoe splits weekend Against Spring Hill, Bret Aagesen hit an opposite-field double to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Justin Mackedanz picked up his first pitching win of the season, and Russ Schaefer came out of retirement and pitched nearly three innings to earn a save. Roscoe scored its other run in the first inning on Tony Orbeck's solo homerun. Against Meire Grove on Saturday, Karl Nathe broke a pitcher's duel with a two-run single in the tenth inning on an 0-2 pitch. Brent Heinen pitched nine innings for Roscoe and took the loss. Roscoe is now 3-5 in league and 4-8 overall. The Rangers will play this week at Avon on Friday at 6:15 p.m. and will host Lake Henry on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
