3, Paynesville 2 Schlecht threw a complete game for the Pirates, allowing only five hits and three runs while striking out 15. Unfortunately, Joe Kurtz threw just as well for Bird Island, allowing only two hits and two runs to the Pirates. Brad Deyak, with a double, had the only extra base hit for the Pirates. The loss dropped the Pirates to 1-2 in league this season and 4-4 overall. This week, the Pirates host Lake Henry on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. They will host Sacred Heart on Sunday night at 7 p.m.

4, Lake Henry 2 New Munich scored once in the second inning, scored twice on Pat Nathe's single in the sixth, and once more in the seventh to take a 4-0 lead. New Munich's Chad Funk lost his shutout in the ninth inning, as the Lakers scored two unearned runs. Roger Wuertz pitched a complete game, allowing only one earned run, for the Lakers, who actually outhit New Munich 5-4. With the loss, Lake Henry fell to 3-4 in league this season. This week, the Lakers play at Paynesville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. They will play at Farming on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and will host Farming on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

8, Lake Henry 5 The two teams combined for 23 hits and four homers, with Doug Fuchs hitting a two-run homer for the Lakers in the second and Ryan Wuertz hitting a two-run homer in the fifth. After falling behind 5-2, the Lakers rallied to cut the gap to 5-4 and then to 6-5 but allowed two unearned runs in the ninth inning and lost 8-5. Ken Arceneau pitched six innings to get the victory for St. Martin, who also beat Meire Grove 13-4 on Sunday to improve to 6-2 in league play, good for a tie for first, since Roscoe lost two games over the weekend. This week, St. Martin plays at St. Nicholas on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. They will play at Richmond on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
