Rangers top Greenwald, 4-2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
For the second straight week, the Roscoe Rangers got a complete game victory from Brent Heinen in beating Greenwald 4-2 on Sunday. Heinen pitched all nine innings at Greenwald, allowing only two runs, in helping the Rangers to their second league victory of the year. The previous weekend, Heinen pitched ten shutout innings as the Rangers won their first league game against Richmond. The Rangers (2-4 in the Stearns County League South and 3-7 overall) took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the second inning and then broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the sixth inning. Lee Schleper led the Rangers at the plate with two hits and two RBIs. This week, the Rangers will host Meire Grove on Saturday and will host Spring Hill on Sunday. Both games start at 1:30 p.m.

St. Martin 11, Spring Hill 5 Sam Rothstein hit a pair of three-run homers to lead the Martins. Spring Hill led 2-0, but St. Martin erased that deficit by scoring four runs in the third and three more in the fourth. Rothstein hit a three-run homer in each inning. Kenny Arceneau earned the pitching victory for St. Martin by pitching six innings, allowing two runs. St. Martin (now 9-1 for the season) will play at Avon on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. They will host New Munich on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Meire Grove 6, Lake Henry 5 The Lakers, trailing 2-1 after seven innings, scored three runs in the top of the eighth - getting a sacrifice fly from Doug Fuchs and an RBI single from Adam Miller - to take a 4-2 lead. But Meire Grove scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Jeff Schmitz doubled and scored for the Lakers in the top of the ninth but that left the Lakers one short. Lake Henry also lost an exhibition game at Dassel on Friday 5-2. Schmitz hit an RBI triple in the first inning but took the pitching loss, allowing five runs in relief of Mike Stalboerger, who pitched five shutout innings. This week, Lake Henry (5-6 overall and 4-3 in league) will play Sauk Centre at Elrosa on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and will host Elrosa on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
