Lakers retire Lynn Hemmesch's jersey |
The Lake Henry Lakers retired the first jersey in team history on Sunday afternoon, dedicating #6 to longtime player and former manager Lynn Hemmesch. Randy and Nick Hemmesch - Lynn's brother and nephew - unveil the sign retiring Lynn Hmmesch's number in leftfield in Lake Henry on Sunday afternoon. Hemmesch, a standout lefthanded pitcher, was a star for PHS and played amateur baseball for more than two decades, mostly for Lake Henry but also for Regal. Hemmesch died in a farm accident in August 2002. His #6 jersey was worn competitively for the last time last year by Lake Henry catcher Jon Lieser, who played at state as a draftee. Nick Hemmesch - Lynn's nephew - threw out the first pitch Sunday.
