Bulldogs top BBE for sixth win | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A solid performance at the plate helped the Dogs softball team defeat the BBE Jaguars 6-2 on Monday, May 12. Never giving the Jags a chance, the Dogs scored one run in the first, three more in the third, and two more in the sixth to secure the win. Sophomore Leah Spanier went the distance and picked up the win for the Dogs, allowing only four hits while striking out five. The Bulldogs had 13 hits as a team in the victory. Sophomore Kim Hess went 4-4 at the plate and scored three times for the Dogs. Seniors Ashley Mackedanz and Ann Stalboerger each had three hits as well. The Bulldogs, seeded sixth, were scheduled to start subsection playoffs on Monday, May 19, at Rockford, but this game was moved to Tuesday due to the rain. The subsection semifinals were moved to Wednesday, May 21, at 4 p.m. at Loretto, and the section finals are on Thursday, May 22, at Loretto at 4 p.m. If the Bulldogs advance to the subsection finals, they will advance to the section tournament starting on Tuesday, May 27, at Delano.

Sauk Centre 10, Paynesville 2 The Dogs did manage to score two runs in the fourth when junior Kayla Rooney and sophomore Valerie Callenius walked and eventually scored. Hess, Stalboerger, and junior Trisha Wendlandt had the only hits for the Dogs. The Streeters only had five hits, but the Bulldogs committed nine errors, allowing five unearned runs. With the conference loss, the Bulldogs finished 4-6 in the West Central Conference North.

ACGC 11, Paynesville 10 The Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the first inning to grab an early lead in the nonconference game and led until ACGC scored the tying and winning runs in the seventh inning. The Bulldogs finished their regular season with a record of 6-12.
