Girls finish second at two meets |
The Paynesville girls' golf team finished second at two non-conference meets last week: a nine-hole meet at Litchfield on Friday, May 14, and an 18-hole meet at Sauk Centre on Tuesday, May 11. At Litchfield, the Dogs were paced by two top-five finishes. Senior Heather Fuchs shot 38 to place second overall, one shot behind the medalist from Litchfield. Senior Amanda Glenz was fourth individually with a round of 41. Ninth grader Marissa Mackedanz shot her first varsity round in the 40s, posting a score of 48 to be the Dogs' third score. Senior Brittany Caldwell and sophomore Amber Jensen had rounds of 50 to complete Paynesville's team score of 177, their lowest of the spring. "The girls played great on Friday," said coach Todd Knudsvig. "Heather shot a great round of 38. Marissa shot her first round in the 40s. The team had their best score of the year." At Sauk Centre last week, Fuchs led the team again with an 18-hole round of 88, finishing third individually. The Dogs finished second in the nine-team meet, trailing Albany but beating conference rivals Sauk Centre, Cathedral, Melrose, and LPGE. Jensen was second for the team at Sauk, shooting 99.
