The Bulldogs boys' golf team finished fifth at a conference meet at Long Prairie on Tuesday, May 10. Junior Justin Bork shot 41, and senior Mitchell Mackedanz shot 42 to lead the Dogs. Eighth grader Zach Fuchs and senior Cody Flanders completed the Dogs' team score with rounds of 44 and 46 respectively. The Dogs finished five strokes out of fourth and eight out of third. Cathedral edged Albany 154-155 for the team title at the meet. Only seven players broke 40 at the meet, including three for Cathedral and three for Albany (the Huskies' fifth, sixth, and seventh golfers). Cathedral, whom the Dogs had been chasing for fourth place in the overall conference standings in the West Central Conference North, moved into third place overall with the meet victory. With one meet to go, Albany leads the overall conference race with LPGE second, Cathedral third, Sauk Centre fourth, Paynesville fifth, and Melrose sixth. The Dogs also had a nonconference meet scheduled for Saturday, May 14, but it was cancelled due to the weather. This week, the Dogs played in their last conference meet at Albany on Monday, April 16. Also this week, the Dogs will play in a meet hosted by NL-S at the Little Crow Golf Club on Friday. Next week, the Dogs will start postseason play with the subsection meet at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker on Wednesday, May 25, at 8:30 a.m.
