Bork leads boy golfers at LPGE |
Senior Justin Bork tied for third at a West Central Conference North meet at Long Prairie on Tuesday, May 9, but the Bulldogs boys' golf team finished eighth and dropped into a seventh-place tie with Sauk Centre in the season standings. Bork shot 39 at Long Prairie, one of seven golfers to shoot in the 30s. He finished four shots behind the medalist, senior Eric Harlander of Albany, who carded 35, and in a five-way tie for third. Senior Ross Barten shot 40 for the Dogs and finished in a three-way tie for eighth at the meet. Melrose, however, edged the Dogs by two strokes for seventh place. The Dutchmen beat the Dogs 174-176. Sauk, which finished sixth at 169, moved into a tie for seventh in the overall conference standings with the Dogs with ten points each. St. Cloud Cathedral widened their lead in the overall conference standings by winning this meet. The Crusaders scored 158, averaging 39.5 strokes per man, to win the meet and move three points ahead of Minnewaska, which finished third in the meet but remains in second in the overall conference standings. Ninth grader Zach Fuchs shot 46 for the Dogs, and sophomore Jeremy Schmidt and ninth grader Travis Wensmann both shot 51s to complete the Dogs' team score. This week, the Dogs played at Albany on Monday and at NL-S on Tuesday. These are the final two conference meets of the season. On Friday, the Dogs are scheduled to play a nonconference meet at NL-S. Next week, the Dogs will play in the subsection meet at Becker on Tuesday, May 23, starting at 12 noon.

Sauk Centre Invite
New London-Spicer and Albany tied for the lead at 332, with NL-S winning the invite on a tiebreaker. The Dogs finished 15 strokes behind LPGE in 11th. Senior Justin Bork led the Dogs by shooting 83, finishing eight strokes behind the medalist and three strokes out of the top five. Senior Ross Barten shot 89, ninth grader Zach Fuchs shot 98, and ninth grader Travis Wensmann shot 109 to complete the Dogs' team score at the meet.
