Paul plays on select 15-year-old hockey team |
Five area hockey players represented District 5 of Minnesota Hockey at the annual Select 15 Spring Festival held in New Hope, Minn. Every participant in the festival was born in 1987. The local boys were part of a 20-member team that was selected out of nearly 50 try-out participants. James Paul (second from left) played last winter for the Paynesville-New London-Spicer Bantam B team. Mike Dvorak played with the Litchfield-Dassel-Cokato bantams, Mark Conboy played with the Willmar bantams, and Jake Engquist and Andy Schramel played with the River Lakes Stars, a co-operative high school team, including Paynesville. Paul is the son of Rick and Jill Paul of Paynesville. District 5 coach Bob Jernberg had this to say about Paul: "Smart, disciplined hockey player. Very coachable. Good skill level. Excellent team player." These five will be teammates again this summer on the Central Minnesota Bees '87 team. Five more PNLS bantams Ð Mike Mueller, Nick Dahlen, Bo Sjoberg, Matt Robison, and Alex Naujokas Ð will join them. The Bees will participate in two tournaments in June and one in August.
