Golfers take sixth at conference meets |
Junior Marissa Mackedanz finished one stroke away from medalist honors at Albany on Thursday, as the PAHS girls' golf team placed sixth in a West Central Conference North meet. Mackedanz fired a season-best competitive round of 40 and finished one stroke behind co-medalists Betsy Miller of St. Cloud Cathedral and Kim Zylla of LPGE, who both carded 39s. Mackedanz tied at 40 with Sarah Roering of Minnewaska, which won the team title and retook the conference lead over Albany. Senior Amber Jensen shot 47 for the Bulldogs, finishing 15th individually at the meet. Junior Cassandra Olmscheid (61) and ninth grader Karla Leitzman (63) completed the Dogs' team score. The Dogs have now finished sixth in all three conference meets so far this season. At Albany, they beat New London-Spicer for the first time this season and moved within a point of the Wildcats for fifth place in the overall conference standings. The Dogs also had a dual meet scheduled at Koronis Hills against ACGC on Friday, but this was postponed, due to the weather, until Wednesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. This week, the Dogs played at Long Prairie on Tuesday, May 2. They will host their conference meet on Friday, May 5, at Koronis Hills. Next week, they will travel to Sauk Centre for a nonconference meet on Tuesday, May 9.
