Boys host conference golf meet |
The Bulldogs boys' golf team edged Sauk Centre on a tiebreaker to take seventh place at their home conference meet last week. The Dogs and Streeters tied with four-man totals of 180, but the Dogs beat the Streeters by one stroke thanks to their fifth scorer in a West Central Conference North meet at Koronis Hills on Tuesday, April 25. Senior Justin Bork (42), ninth grader Zach Fuchs (44), ninth grader Adam Youngs (46), and ninth grader Travis Wensmann (48) comprised the Dogs' four-man total of 180. Sophomore Jeremy Schmidt shot 51, beating Sauk Centre's fifth golfer by one stroke for the Dogs to take seventh. The Dogs are also seventh in the overall conference standings, two points ahead of Sauk Centre. Albany, with three golfers shooting in the 30s, won the meet with a four-man total of 154, averaging 38.5 strokes per man on the front nine at Koronis Hills. St. Cloud Cathedral (158) finished second by averaging 39.5 strokes per man, and Minnewaska (160) was third, averaging 40 strokes per man. The Dogs also had a dual meet against ACGC scheduled for Friday at Koronis Hills, but this was postponed due to the weather. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. This week, the Dogs played in conference meets at Minnewaska on Monday and at Melrose on Tuesday. Next week, the Dogs will travel to Long Prairie for a WCC North meet on Tuesday, May 9.
