Eagle helps Dogs to season-low team total |
An eagle on the par-4 9th propelled senior Nathan Glenz (at left) to a round of 41, tied for eighth in a West Central Conference North meet at Albany on Monday, April 22. Glenz drove the green with his tee shot on the 251-yard hole and had a six-foot uphill putt, which he made, for eagle. The Bulldogs boys' golf team shot their lowest team total of the year but finished seventh again. They tied with Sauk Centre at 178 with four scores, but took seventh on a tie-breaker. In addition to Glenz, ninth grader Mitchell Mackedanz shot 43, junior Tony Savage shot 47, and junior Justin Hartfiel shot 47. In the tie-breaker, Sauk Centre's fifth golfer shot 47, edging junior Eric Gerding, who shot 48 for the Bulldogs. John Evens of Albany was the meet medalist with an even-par round of 36. Litchfield, who had three players fire 38s, won the team competition. The Bulldogs played in a WCC North meet at Melrose on Tuesday. They will play in a nonconference meet at Benson on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
