Golfers third at two WCC North meets |
The Paynesville girls' golf team took third place at two conference meets last week: at Sauk Centre on Tuesday, April 22, and at Albany on Thursday, April 24. The Bulldogs trailed Albany and Sauk Centre, who also lead in the overall conference standings. Each team won its home meet last week. At Albany, the Bulldogs were led by junior Heather Fuchs (pictured at left), who fired a round of 46, four strokes behind medalist Lindsey Wellenstein of Albany who had a 42. Fuchs was fourth overall at this meet. Junior Jena Spaulding was next for Paynesville with a round of 49. Spaulding tied for sixth overall. Ninth grader Amber Jensen, with a 51, and junior Amanda Glenz, with a 53, finished the team scoring for Paynesville. At Sauk Centre, Jensen fired a round of 49 to land in the top ten. Jensen tied for fifth individually. Albany's Wellenstein was the medalist once again with a 42. Spaulding was second again for the Bulldogs with a 52, and Fuchs and Glenz each had rounds of 54. This week, the girls played at Long Prairie on Tuesday. They will also host a conference meet at Koronis Hills on Friday, May 2, starting at 4:30 p.m.
