Dogs swept at home meet |
Home course advantage wasn't enough for the Bulldogs boys' golf team last week. The Dogs finished sixth again at a conference meet at Koronis Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, April 22. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle won the meet with a foursome score of 165, beating Albany by two strokes. LPGE had five golfers shoot 43 or better and all seven shot 46 or better. Their team total averaged 41 shots per round. Jeremy Zylla led LPGE with a four-over-par round of 39 on the back nine at Koronis Hills. Zylla trailed medalist John Evens of Albany by two strokes. Evens fired a two-over-par 37 on the back. The Bulldogs' team total was 186, 20 strokes out of first, 10 out of third, and five out of fifth. Sophomore Mitchell Mackedanz shot 44, senior Eric Gerding and ninth grader Justin Bork shot 47s, and senior Tony Savage shot 48. Senior Eric Gerding shot 47 at a conference meet at home last week. Junior Nick Nelson and ninth grader Tom Stoneburner also shot 48s, giving the Bulldogs six scores 48 and bettter. Ninth grader Ross Barten shot 50, meaning the Dogs had no varsity score over 50. The Bulldogs competed at a meet at Melrose on Tuesday. This week, they will play in a nonconference tournament at Atwater on Friday, and next week they will play at Long Prairie on Tuesday, May 6.
