Bulldog golfers victorious at Melrose Invite |
The Bulldogs boys' golf team won their first invitational in years last week, beating host Melrose to claim the title at the Melrose Invite, a nonconference meet on Thursday. Junior Mitchell Mackedanz and sophomore Justin Bork led the Dogs with two-over-par rounds of 38, tying for medalist honors with a golfer from Melrose. Sophomore Justin Bork fired round of 38 at Melrose and 39 at Wapicada last week to lead the Bulldogs boys' golf team. "It has been a long time coming, but the boys' team won an invita-tional," said coach Todd Knudsvig. This is believed to be the Dogs' first invitational victory in at least ten years. On Thursday, the Dogs edged Melrose by four strokes, 162-166. In addition to Bork and Mackedanz, seventh grader Zach Fuchs shot a 41, and sophomore Ross Barten shot a 45 to complete the Dogs' team score. This week, the Bulldogs hosted a home conference meet at Koronis Hills on Tuesday. They do not play again until next week. They will play at Melrose again on Tuesday, May 4, in a conference meet.
