Girl golfers finish sixth at first WCC meet |
The Bulldogs girls' golf team finished sixth in their first conference meet of the year at Wapicada Country Club in St. Cloud on Tuesday, April 18. Junior Marissa Mackedanz shot 45 and finished in a five-way tie for seventh to lead the Dogs, while senior Amber Jensen shot 47 and placed 14th at the meet. Minnewaska - with their top four golfers shooting 45 or better, led by medalist Courtney Boe, an eighth grader who shot 40 - won the first West Central Conference North meet of the year by 13 strokes over Albany. Minnewaska and New London-Spicer, which edged the Dogs by three strokes for fifth, moved to the WCC North this year from the WCC South. Sophomores Meghan Doll (59) and Natasha Fangmeier (60) completed the Dogs' team score. This week, the Dogs have three meets. They played in a conference meet at New London-Spicer on Tuesday and will play in a conference meet at Albany on Thursday. They will host ACGC in a dual meet at Koronis Hills on Friday, starting at 4 p.m. Next week, the Dogs will travel to conference meets at Minnewaska on Monday, May 1, and at Long Prairie on Tuesday, May 2.

Minnewaska won this meet again, besting Albany by 18 strokes. The Dogs finished four strokes behind Kimball, in 12th, and nine behind Melrose, in 11th. Junior Marissa Mackedanz shot 45 on her second nine to score 95 for the day and lead the Dogs. Senior Amber Jensen shot a 52 and 48 for a total of 100. Junior Cassandra Olmscheid (120, including 57 on her first nine) and sophomore Natasha Fangmeier (124, including 57 on her second nine) completed the Dogs' team score.
