The narrow course is lined with houses making it a challenging course to play.
As a team, the girls hit the ball out of bounds a total of 23 times, with the wind being the cause for many of these errant shots. Despite the windy weather, the Bulldogs managed to place fourth in what turned out to be not only their first meet of the season but also their first conference meet.
Playing for the Bulldogs were seniors Erin O'Fallon and Katie Wright, juniors Sally Heitke and Maria Janotta, and ninth graders Amanda Glenz, Jena Spaulding, and Brittany Caldwell. For many, this was their first time on the course all year.
Counting scores for Paynesville were Heitke (52), Janotta (53), Wright (56), and Glenz (57), giving the Bulldogs a total of 218.
The Bulldogs play at Sauk Centre and Albany this week and host a home invitational on Saturday. Scores for those meets will appear in next week's Press.
