Dogs take second at first WCC North meet

The Paynesville girls' golf team placed second out of six teams in their first conference meet of the year last week.

The Bulldogs recorded a four-golfer total of 251, beating Sauk Centre by two strokes for second place. Albany easily won the meet with a total of 199.

The Bulldogs were led by junior Heather Fuchs, who shot 48 in cold, rainy, and windy conditions on the par-35 course at the Wapicada Country Club in St. Cloud on Tuesday, April 15. Fuchs tied for second place individually, trailing only medalist Lindsey Wellenstein of Albany, who shot 40. Fuchs tied with Christie Lahr of Cathedral.

Junior Amanda Glenz and ninth grader Amber Jensen were next for the Bulldogs with rounds of 55, and junior Jena Spaulding completed the Dogs' team score with a 57.

This week, the Bulldogs played at Sauk Centre on Tuesday night. They also will play at Albany on Thursday, will host a home tourney at Koronis Hills on Saturday morning, and will play at Long Prairie on Tuesday, April 29.
