Jensen takes second place at Melrose meet |
Junior Amber Jensen placed second individually as the girls' golf team finished sixth in a seven-team nonconference meet at Melrose on Thursday. Jensen shot a bogey round of 45, trailing medalist Kjersti Johnson of Minnewaska by four strokes. Nine other golfers shot rounds in the 40s in the sunny weather on Thursday. Junior Amber Jensen shot a round of 45 at Melrose on Thursday, finishing second individually. The Bulldogs were sixth as a team with a four-golfer total of 211, trailing fifth-place LPGE by one stroke. Minnewaska (190) won the meet, Sauk Centre (194) was second, Pierz (200) was third, and BBE (205) was fourth. Melrose (217) was seventh. Sophomore Marissa Mackedanz shot 50 to be the Dogs' second scorer. Ninth grader Natasha Fangmeier shot 56 and sophomore Cassandra Olmscheid shot 60 to complete the Dogs' team score. This week, the Dogs had their first conference meet at Wapicada in St. Cloud on Tuesday. They will next play in a conference meet at Sauk Centre on Tuesday, April 26.
