Girls open with sixth-place finish at Melrose |
The Bulldogs girls' golf team opened their 2006 season by placing sixth at a nonconference meet at Melrose on Thursday, April 13. Minnewaska - a new conference rival for the Dogs, having moved into the West Central Conference North this season with New London-Spicer - won the meet with a four-golfer total of 164. Emily Roering of Minnewaska was the meet medalist with a two-over-par round of 38. Sauk Centre (189) and Melrose (198), both conference rivals, finished second and third with BBE (203) fourth, Pierz (203) fifth, Paynesville (218) sixth, and LPGE (224) seventh. Senior Amber Jensen led the Dogs with a bogey round of 45 last week. Junior Marissa Mackedanz (53), sophomore Natasha Fangmeier (59), and junior Cassandra Olmscheid (61) completed the Dogs' team score. This week, the Dogs have a number of meets, starting with their first conference meet in St. Cloud on Tuesday. On Friday, the Dogs will play in a nonconference meet at New London-Spicer. Next week, the Dogs will play conference meets at Minnewaska on Monday, April 24, and at Sauk Centre on Tuesday, April 25.
