Bulldogs take second at Annandale |
The Paynesville boys' track team opened its outdoor season by taking second in a four-team meet at Annandale on Thursday. The Bulldogs won five events and placed in the top five 20 times as a team. Annandale won the meet with 100.5 points, while Paynesville had 66.5 points for second. "We had a decent meet, but definitely can improve," said coach Darrel Carstens. "It was great having some personal best performances. We need to put together our best lineup in the coming weeks in preparation for the conference meet." Junior Chad Wyffels won the 300-meter hurdles and also ran a leg on the Dogs' winning 3,200-meter relay, along with seniors Milan Virant, Tommy Flannigan, and Riley Flanders. Flannigan placed in four events for the Bulldogs, while Flanders, Virant, and Wyffels each placed in three. Junior Lee Fuchs-Thielen won the triple jump and also placed in two other events, taking second in the long jump and fifth in the 100-meter dash.
