Boys edged for tourney title on tiebreaker

The Bulldogs boys' golf team tied for the title at their opening three-team tourney at Koronis Hills last week, but New London-Spicer edged the Dogs on a tiebreaker.

Both teams had a four-golfer total of 166, but the Wildcats' fifth and sixth golfers shot 44s.

Senior Mitchell Mackedanz earned medalist honors for the Dogs by shooting a one-over-par round of 37 on the front nine at Koronis Hills on Tuesday, April 5. He beat Ryan Walsh of ACGC by one stroke.

Senior Cody Flanders tied for third at the meet, shooting a four-over-par round of 40. Junior Justin Bork tied for fifth with a round of 44, and junior Ross Barten shot a round of 45 to complete the Dogs' team score of 166.

Eighth grader Zach Fuchs and ninth grader Jeremy Schmidt both shot rounds of 46 for the Dogs, but NL-S had two 44s to take the title.

This week, the Dogs competed in a WCC North meet at Sauk Centre on Tuesday. Next week, the Dogs will compete in a conference meet in St. Cloud on Monday, April 18.
