Hockey players receive honors

Senior Marie Omann of Rocori, who led the River Lakes Stars girls' hockey team (13-11-3) with 21 goals and 37 points was named to the All Area girls' hockey team last week by the St. Cloud Times.

Her teammates, senior Amber Schulzetenberge of Albany and sophomore Kenzie Novak of Rocori, were named honorable mention to the All Area team. Schulzetenberge was second in scoring for the Stars with 20 goals and 36 points. Novak was third with 17 goals and 32 points.

Omann and Schulzetenberge were named All Conference in the Central Lakes Conference this year, as the Stars went 7-6-3. Both earned All Conference honors for the third time.

For the boys' team, senior Zach Johnson of Rocori and senior Jamie Paul of Paynesville were named honorable mention to the Times' All Area team. Johnson, a defenseman, was second on the Stars with 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) while Paul was third with 25 points (7-18). The Stars went 7-19 in 2005-06.
