Krupke earned honorable mention honors a year ago as a junior. This year, she averaged 14.6 points per game, which led the Willmar area, according to coach Ric Koehn. She also led the team with 94 assists, and had 75 recounds and 52 steals.
Lieser, a two-year starter, averaged 11.7 ppg this year and led the Bulldogs with 31 three-pointers and 67 steals. She had 76 assists and 61 rebounds.
Other statistical leaders for the Bulldogs were junior forward Heidi Jansen with 183 rebounds, an average of eight per game. Senior guard Melody Veldkamp with 30 blocks.
All four of the team's seniors Ð Krupke, Veldkamp, Crystal Humbert, and Katrina Orbeck Ð were honored at the banquet. Koehn noted that all four were honor students and planning on attending college next year.
The team had only two local awards. The Team Award went to junior Lisa Hemingson. This award, voted on by the team members, went to Hemingson for best exemplifying teamwork.
The Coach's Award went to Humbert. This award, chosen by the coaches, went to Humbert for being the most receptive to coaching.
The varsity team finished the season with a record of 4-19. A highlight was winning two games and a first-place trophy at their holiday tournament.
B-squad coach Dave Randgaard and ninth grade coach Laurie Nepsund each recapped their team's season and introduced their teams at the banquet.
