Dogs drop two games to end regular season | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Bulldogs played their last regular season game on Saturday afternoon against the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters. The Bulldogs got behind in a high-scoring first quarter and were never able to get back in the game, losing the conference battle, 76-49. The Bulldogs trailed by five at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Streeters got some easy hoops in transition and extended the lead to 11 at the half. Sauk Centre also outscored the Bulldogs 41-25 in the second half, and the Dogs lost by 27. The Bulldogs had 10 players score in a balanced scoring attack, but none reached double digits. Senior Andy Jones led the way with nine.

The Bulldogs got off to a slow start, but picked it up in the second quarter to enter halftime down by one. A good third quarter put the Dogs ahead by one going into the fourth quarter. Gaining momentum, the Bulldogs were up by six points with less than three minutes left in the game, but the Dogs missed numerous opportunities to put the game away and lost by three. Jones led the way for the Bulldogs again, scoring 19 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Senior Wes Lieser added 15 points for the Dogs. The Bulldogs played their first district playoff game at Dassel-Cokato on Monday night and lost 58-55 on a last-second shot. A complete game summary will be in next week's edition. The Bulldogs ended the season 5-18.
