LPGE tops Dogs in hoops | ||||||||||||
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle used a hot start and a big fourth quarter to hand the Bulldogs boys' basketball team their eighth consecutive loss on Friday night in Paynesville. LPGE beat the Dogs 77-63 in a conference game, spoiling Parent's Night for the Dogs. Senior Doug Mages led the Bulldogs last week with 21 points and 12 rebounds during their 77-63 loss to LPGE. The Thunder built a 41-32 lead in the first half, but the Bulldogs outscored the Thunder 17-11 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 52-49 to start the fourth. But LPGE scored 25 points, allowing only 14, in the fourth quarter, beating the Dogs 77-63. LPGE enjoyed a huge advantage at the free throw line, outscoring the Bulldogs 17-7. The Thunder also made eight three-pointers, though the Dogs countered with six of their own, led by senior Doug Mages, who made three treys. Mages led the Dogs with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Adam Kampsen added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Adam Hemmesch added 10 points and eight rebounds. The loss dropped the Dogs to 3-6 in the conference and 6-12 overall. This week, the Bulldogs hosted Melrose on Tuesday in their last regular-season home game. The Bulldogs will play at NL-S on Thursday night.
