Both lines danced during halftime of the boys varsity basketball game, and Paynesville earned a 77-72 victory on the judge’s scorecard.
Paynesville scored 15 out of 20 on kicks, 15 out of 20 on presentation, 16 out of 20 for execution, 16 out of 20 for choreography, and 15 out of 20 for difficulty for a total of 77 out of 100.
Litchfield scored 14 on kicks, 15 on presentation, 14 on execution, 15 on choreography, and 14 on difficulty for a total of 72.
“I think we had a lot of mistakes,” said Pirouettes coach Colleen Peyerl. “I know we’ll do a lot better at state.”
The Pirouettes will be competing in the high kick/precision division at state Saturday. The Class A schools will begin the qualifying round at 10:30 a.m. at Williams Arena.
The Class A finalists will be announced at 1:40 p.m., and the Class A finals and award ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m.
